Making Worlds Collide

Hexed and Dangerous . . .

Posted on January 26, 2019 at 9:20 AM Comments comments (0)

2018 was committed to boxsets to gain new friends and readers. I loved it so much I couldn't help but throw my name into the hat of authors for  just one for the 2019 year! So without furtherado, I am happy to announce I have a story in the upcoming set Socercy and Shadows! Check out this beauty and grab your preorder for just 99¢ here!

Remember in 2017 when I attempted to launch Hexed in New Orleans series but ran out of time because the characters demanded a full lentth novel instead of a novella? Well, I'm happy to announce that project is my focus for 2019 and it will kick off with a prequel novel that sets up the brand new paranormal vs human world.

While I'm not doing a cover reveal just yet, I want to introduce you the story early - because I'm typing away and these characters are so much fun.

Hexed and Dangerous

A Hexed in New Orleans Prequel

The world is awake – vampires, witches, werewolves and more are real and outed in the human community. Fear runs deep, and a set of rules instituted by a small council are all that holds a fragile balance.

Ivy Lancaster knows the rules. Be prepared, be efficient and get out. That didn’t make going to council meetings more enjoyable. As the Witch Elect, she had far better ways to help her community stay at peace with humans than sitting on monthly board meetings. Too bad the Council of Supernaturals didn’t care.

One thing makes the meetings bearable.

Elijah Vikander has no love for the Council of Supernaturals. He was alpha, wolves answered to him, he didn’t answer to others. He could stop going, force the wolves to elect a beta member of the Crescent Pack, but then he couldn’t see the enchanting off-limits witch.

When a group of warlocks threaten to tear the proclamation down and take over the city, pairings are made to track and take the men down. Ivy and Elijah are forced into a coupling that will either destroy their worlds, or save the humans.

Once Hexed Twice Shy is a fantastic book 1, but the series needed something extra - the world grew so large I needed a way to introduce readers to it before I dropped them into the craziness of a hexed witch and her ex-boyfriend cop. What will this novel have? Secret romance, time travel and a curse that could end the whole world. Stay tuned for the cover reveal and a sneak peak coming soon!

Let's Talk Releases

Posted on February 19, 2018 at 10:00 PM Comments comments (0)

So I tried really hard last year to blog monthly . . . I didn't realzie how incredibly HARD that was going to be! I had an infant, a new city, a full time job and a social life. Blogging was hard. Why was it hard? Because I had no clue if people were reading it. Sure, I can look at stats, but that just means someone opened the page and scrolled down. I didn't see any comments, and it let me slip into a "boo hoo me" moment.

It's a horrible excuse, but if I'm honest, it's rough putting yourself out there and not knowing if you're getting your links out in the world. And since I know my books reach people, I dove headfirst into writing my stories and focusing on that. I'm back now - because I miss blogging and communicating with potential readers! So as a mea cupla for everything, simply comment on this blog post to win a free copy of my newest release!

Now, that I've apologized and enticed you with a freebie, let's talk releases! I used 2017 largely as an experimental year. I was apart of multiple boxsets, wanting to reach new readers as well as partner with some of my favorite authors. Seriously, boxsets are the coolest way to get to know an author because you learn about their process and get a free read :D

I am so excited that I did because I learned so much from the process and gained so many new author friends. If I reached even a few new readers, that's for sure a win! So what is 2018 about, now that we're almost 2 months in? Well, it's a combination year. I still have a few box sets to participate in. I have series that I KNOW need my attention and new series to start. So without further ado, let the release schedule roll!

While the goal was to focus on open series and finish them, I did have a few stories slam their way to the front, pushing my two favorite series out of the publication list this year. But don't worry - the Guardians and Alliance stories are outlined and WILL be told.

Shifting Around

Posted on March 12, 2017 at 9:20 PM Comments comments (0)

Hello there! It's been quite a long month. I'm sorry I've been so quiet, but there was a ton of decisions to make and things to set in motion in order to bring my works back into the world. Plus, I had a brand new release last month (check it out!). While it is a slow process and absolutely no content changes are occuring, each book from previous publisher is getting a polish and sign from tightening my grammar to shiny new formatting. Slowly but surely they will all be live before the end of April 2017.

Which brings me to the point of this post - release dates. I know, I know, I teased you with this epically long list a few months ago. Unfortunately, that list is going to shrink and some dates will change. This is because I want to dedicate my time to the cleaning up and republishing of past novels before moving onto new books in those series. Without further ado, here is the new and improved release schedule for the remainder of 2017!

April 18 - "Something Borrowed" in Wedding Dreams Anthology (" target="_blank">Preorder it now)

May 29 - Forgotten Worlds (Guardians book 4)

Summer - "Last Summer" featured in The Summer of Us Anthology

Fall - High Heat antholgoy featuring "Rise of Silver & Steam"

October 23 - Paranormal box set featuring a secret project

November 20 - Disrupting the Steam (Alliance of Silver & Steam book 6)

December 3 - The Christmas Pup (A standalone m/m novel)

I'm super excited to dive back into existing series and write a handful of anthology projects for the upcoming year. It's a wonderful experience broadening my wings with anthologies after so much time away from collaborating with other authors on them. I know I cut out a Christmas novel and an In Service short, but I hope you'll forgive me for that as it's best for the quality if I don't overdo my release schedule since at this point (gasp) only 2 of those projects are complete! ;)

Thank you to everyone for sticking by my side as I made a huge change, went silent for almost a month and started picking myself up and getting back together after the sad task of leaving an amazing publisher to explore self publishing.

Ready to Read?

Posted on January 12, 2017 at 9:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Hello everyone! With 2017 two weeks in I thought this week's blog post ought to be about my release scheudle! Yup, I've been hiding this bad boy while I hammered everything out with my publisher and anthology contributions - having a baby can make things tough, having medical needs makes it tougher! It would seem that 2017 is a year for military romances. The past two years I've released 1-2 In Services series a year and a hero here and there might have been military. In 2017 there are 4 books with military heros! Yup, that's quite a lot of uniformed goodness this year, I hope you're ready for them.

Without futher ado, here is the schedule!

January 19, 2017 - Amongst the Fea (Standalone Novella)

February 7, 2017 - "Christmas Soldier" featured in To See You Again: A WW2 Romance Anthology

February 25 2017 - Prison Drop (In Service, Army)

April 18, 2017 - "Something Borrowed" featured in Wedding Dreams Boxset

April 30, 2017 - Forgotten Worlds (Guardians book 4)

May 9, 2017 - Delta Dog (In Service, Marines)

August 10, 2017 - Disrupting the Steam ( Alliance of Silver and Steam book 6)

October 15, 2017 - Clockwork Wings (Steampunk Standalone Short)

December 5, 2017 - The Christmas Pup (m/m christmas stand alone)

I hope you'll come along with me again in 2017, my third year of having the honor of being a published author - both indie and small press. What would a release schedule be with a little tease of the covers? Not much fun, of course! Check out a few of these pretties.

Don't forget, in 2017 I'm hosting all non-anthology release parties in a private" target="_blank">Facebook group. Ask to join for fun, teasers and of course, prizes!

It Will Continue!

The Alliance of Silver Steam is not ending with Silver Wings!

Many of you know that Rise of Silver & Steam was a complete after thought. Well, now there are 3 more novels coming and a series of slices of slice (FREE with this newsletter!). I'm so excited to get to continue these stories and show you just what happens after the devastating war that the Alliance of Silver and Steam had to cover up. Especially because Layel has been demanding to get his very own HEA since around October of 2014 and now he will have one!!

Every month, beginning in March 2016, there will be a slice of life short (anywhere from 2,500 words to 5,000 words) released via my newsletter for free! Why? Because there is going to be a very large time jump that I feel needs some filling in! So be on the lookout for your first tidbit - which will feature Kellan and Seraphina navigating what has become of them!

I'll slowly be revealing information about each book as we get closer to the actual release dates but I thought I'd leave you with the images of couples that are gracing the stunning covers that Dreams2Media created!

I hope you are all as excited as I am to see the Alliance continue on! Keep an eye out for updates, or join my newsletter by clicking here, so that you can keep getting the announcements weeks before I post them here!

Release Day Blast: Rise of Silver & Steam

Posted on September 8, 2015 at 6:30 AM Comments comments (0)

I am so excited that this day is finally here! Like any origin novel, this story presented itself after I realized there were so many questions in the Alliance of Silver and Steam world, because the books did not begin with the Alliance beginning. I worked diligently on Darker Side of Worlds, trying to ignore the demand to tell the story of how Seraphina fell and how the Alliance was created. I didn't know Layel at that the time, didn't understand even half of the intricaices of the world that was brewing beneath the surface. However, with the birth of Layel in my mind, came an entire plot twist in Bite of Silver (Which i was going to be working on right after Darker and would have been terribly different had my muse never spoken up).

I knew i had to write this story if I was ever going to finish anything else — including the already scheduled Alliance books. After speaking with the publisher, I quickly jotted down an outline and then stepped away and wrote not one, but two other Alliance books and 7 other books in total before I sat down in July 2015 and finally wrote this one, long after my muse was pushing for it. What was meant to be a 40-50 novella spun quickly out of my control to 65k and I hope you all enjoy the backstories as much as I enjoyed learned them as I wrote. After what seems like forever, I'm able to tell this story, fill in the holes and give a breath of life to Thomas Agardawes that makes him so much more than a Guildmaster.

Thomas Agardawes has a bride that resists him, and a job that he doesn't like. When a Royal approaches him on only his third day as a master at the Clockworker's Guild, his life is turned upside down. Demons lurk in the underground and he has been assigned the task of leading the force against evil.

Seraphina has torn her wings from her body to save a lover’s soul, but he spurns her. Revenge blossoms, and she plots to make Hell her own and force humans to pay for what they took from her. Nothing will stop her, and her corruption runs soul deep.

Layel, a Pure Angel, has fallen for a human, and it’s almost cost him his wings. That is not the hardest task to face. He must convince a man to run a secret group to hunt demons as they’ve come out of Hell to hunt the humans. If he succeeds, he will then need to train them all.

Three souls that couldn’t be more different collide in unexpected ways as the Alliance of Silver and Steam is born, and the secrets of demons unleashed on the world.

Frantically, she grabbed her right wing and jerked it up as high as she could and sliced the sword through the feathers. She screamed in pain, despite not having reached the root feather. They would re-grow if she did not cut it out. She heard shouts, and Muriel dared to touch her. Seraphina swung the blade in a long arc and sliced the female’s arm.

“Izazal! Get her out of here. I will deal with Seraphina,” Layel shouted.

Seraphina hastily grabbed her left wing and repeated the action. Pain as hot as a branding iron shot through her. Tears dripped down her face, and she felt her stomach heave. But she was not done.

“Seraphina, I beg you. Cease. You cannot undo this once it is done.” Layel’s voice was soft, pleading, and his hands were outstretched, reaching for her.

“There is nothing that will stop me.” Her voice was so full of rage, she didn’t recognize it.

Arching her back, she stabbed the point straight down into her back. Her cry was so loud that it rang in her ears. Bile rose in her throat, and she swallowed it down, ignoring the bitter taste and the vile burn as she did. She heard Layel’s roar and felt the gust of wind he created as he fled, leaving her and her blood alone in the street. Closing her eyes and clamping down on the inside of her right cheek, she began to carve out her flesh and the root feather. She could not feel anything except the bite of the metal as pain and nausea compounded her every action. She did not stop, could not stop. If she were to reach Demetrious, she had to fall.

Release Day Blast: Cop Shot

Posted on May 4, 2015 at 7:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Cop Shot is very special to me, for a few reasons. This is a short story I wrote in the second half of my advanced fiction class in college. By short I mean it was 12 pages double spaced with 2" margins. I'd never intended to touch it again, never saw the need to expand and write the whole story, not just the dramatic climactic chapter which now is actually the final chapter of the book...and then I did.

It is also extremely important and special because this is a self published project. I am blessed with a publisher. What this means is that I have an editor on staff. I have a formatter, I have an uploader and an Amazon handler. I do have a cover artist, though she is out of house and I love her to bits. For this project it was me, myself and I. I got to learn the joys of going at it alone and let me tell you - it is hard. There is also an undeniably amazing feeling that comes with doing it all on your own. There are blood sweat and tears that went into this book. I found the editor...twice. I did the cover. I did the print and various ebook formatting. I gave this project everything I had and learned so very much along the way. Do I appreciate my publisher a million times more? Hell yes. But I also appreciate myself more, I have a whole new investment in this book that I can never have in another, because this book was all me.

Bridget O'Casey has wanted nothing more than to be a cop since she was a little girl and used to listen to her dad's stories. He however, was completely against it and she found herself modeling. When he was gunned it furthered her desire to put her life in a different direction and finally enroll in the academy. She wanted revenge for her father's death and honoring him was the only way to really do so. A night of partying before the first day could spell disaster when she finds out who the deadly handsome man was.

Jeremy Trellins is a high profile detective. When things get slightly of out control and he's put on training duty he wanted nothing to do with it. Until he found out the woman he slept with the night before was now one of the recruits. He's torn between his duty and his desire and she's not giving him any indication she doesn't want him right back.

When a series of police station shootings break out across southern California things get shaky as the academy must make the choice to train, or shut down. She will have to find a way to balance training, a not so secret relationship that could both of them removed from the force and a killer that has his sites on her.

He ground out the words through clenched teeth. Bridget didn’t move away. Instead, she took half a step closer to him. Jeremy felt his dick pulse within his pants.

“I’m not going to be loud or even say anything that can incriminate Mr. Perfect in a night of passion with his subordinate.”

True to her word, she lowered her voice. The problem was the sultry tone of it made his heart beat quicker.

“What I’m going to do is tell you that we’re both adults. That we slept together before we knew anything, and we broke off any possible shot at doing it again once we found out the problem.”

He was breathing heavily, trying to resist the urge to pull her face down to his. “So what’s the point of this quiet little tirade then?”

She stepped closer, leaving just enough space between them that it couldn’t be considered completely inappropriate. Bridget grazed her stomach across his pelvic area, and he growled low.

“The point is, you were not an adult when you approached me about it and I would like an apology.”

The glint in her eye told him there was so much more she wanted. He was losing any ability to resist her with every second they stood out there and sooner or later, someone else was going to walk out of the precinct. He could only hope she walked back to her friend before that happened.

So come by the party and hang out with me for fun, teasers and prizes!!

On Release Day...

Posted on July 15, 2014 at 7:10 AM Comments comments (0)

I honestly have no idea where to start. Today is a day that I've been dreaming about since I was in second grade and decided I wanted to be an author. I didn't know then that it was a daunting task filled with so many different emotional journey's I would want to scream and cry and jump for joy all at once. But today, eighteen years, I've learned that.

A bored little seventh grader dreamed up a world where the book characters could be real; could protect her from things. Until I was 20 I had that fizzling in the back of my mind. Pretending it could be a really good book idea. Then last August I decided it was finally time to write it. Time to tell the story I'd randomly been dreaming for most of my life.

I may have always known I wanted to be a writer, but I didn't have the drive, or maybe it was the guts, to make it happen. I went to undergrad at UC Riverside for Creative Writing. I was told so many things by wonderful, and honestly, not so wonderful professors. More than once I'd been told that genre writing was a different ballgame than literary fiction and considered "smut". So I learned how to write brilliantly boring literary fiction - don't get me wrong I know some people love it, but it's just not enough for me.

I never had the drive to finish anything though because I got it in my mind that it wasn't being a real author. While I didn't let it get me down I did let it push me to pursue my second love, journalism and PR. Not a horrible thing but when I found myself unemployed and looking for something to do I decided it was time to finish just one of the few stories I'd started. Torn Between Two Worlds was the only one that made sense to finish.

A little less than a year later, I'm getting to say hello to my book being brought out into the world. I submitted to a publishing house that I knew was the right fit for me, and thankfully they felt the same. For the past 5 months I've been schooled in promo photos, cover creation, book trailers, Amazon stuff and more. Now it's time to see if I did any of it right ;)

I want to take a moment and thank all the people that I never could have done this with out. Thank you first and foremost to my private school librarian - Miss Burns. Without you I may never have even tried to write, my never have known how. To SJ Davis, thank you so incredibly much for taking a risk on a me. I hope to not let you, and Hot Ink Press, down. To my rockstar editor, Elizabeth, thank you. I don't think I will ever forget to have a man clean himself ever again! (P.S. I totally checked Nightmare in Steam after that convo to make sure everything was squeaky clean!). Thank you to Skye, Catherine, Mariana, Randi and Frances for holding my hand at various steps along the way to learn how to market and release this book. Thank you so much to Joe for his incredible gift that means more than he knows. A special thanks to Riley for my beautiful (and sexy) cover - Ciara and Stryder are exactly how I pictured them! And lastly, thank you to everyone outside my lit family who have been going on this journey and supporting me.

Now for some fun! Click below to grab your very own copy of Torn Between Two Worlds and check out the slideshow of my favorite promo images!
